Eli’s World

Dear mom Connie and all my blog friends,
Life here in Ohio gets more interesting everyday, especially now that I’m getting big and strong -9#9oz last Tuesday at the vets.  Nobody runs over me anymore-well-maybe they roll over me: but, I don’t act like a baby anymore-I get right back up and try to roll over them.  I can run very fast now.  DC doesn’t have to slow down a bit to let me play.  And I’m IT a lot.  Hot Shot even lets me play with him more now.
We also still play “drag Eli in his bed”  too.  It’s lots harder for DC to pull me around now that I’m big.
My coat still has a lot of sable in it.  When the sun’s not shining, I blend into the blacks, browns and grays of the Ohio winter landscape.  Mom Maggi says I’m camouflaged-she doesn’t always see me right away if I’m real still.  It’s so funny watching her looking around and calling “EEEELIIII” when I’m right in front of her- hee hee hee!!
I now have this funny little car seat.  It sits up high so I can see out of the car window.  Have had four little rides in it and only got a little car sick once. (think that might have been due to some cheetos Grandpappy Walt gave me when I visited).  They were pretty good going down, not so good coming up.  Dr. Pat says she thinks I’ll get over being sick in the car.  If not, she has a new magic medicine we can try.

Eli’s World

From Eli
Dear Connie,
I hope you can forward this to all my friends.
At the moment I am extremely proud of myself.  Spent yesterday getting the “bathing and grooming” works without a complaint. I was very good and got some raw steak as a treat afterwards. Mom and Dad both said I look very handsome since my coat is growing in very fast.  Mom said I was really starting to look like a real Havanese dog-whatever that means. Says I have a real “male” looking face, which I guess is good from the way she said it, kinda gushy.
Mom Maggi was brushing me out when all of a sudden she started REALLY Staring at my new under coat-said something like-”it’s coming in strawberry blond.”  Don’t know why she’s so shocked, she comes back from the beauty salon with different hair colors all the time.  She seems surprised I change my color as often. Think I’ll just keep changing to see that funny look on her face lol.
I had to look good for my trip to the vets for my last new puppy check up, which I passed with flying colors (as long as my pooh comes back clear from the lab). I’m still a little roly poly; but, my good friend, Vet Pat, says I’m just a growing boy.  Told mom not to worry.  Also, we are suppose to check in every once in a while for Pat to keep an eye on my baby teeth.  Really think this is a ruse to get me there to visit everyone.  I’m a very popular fellow at the vet’s office.  A real lady’s man.  Got them wrapped around my dew Claw.
Have been having loads of fun running with the other guys outside. Hot Shot is really starting to like me a lot since he’s begun to realize mom and dad still love him to pieces.  DC, Daisy, and I think he was a little jealous since he’s been the baby.
This Ohio weather is really strange.  Last week we were having snow digging contests; this week it’s been mud throwing.  Been out a lot in this warm weather.  Mom said my rear was really looking good from all the exercise.  All I know is, I’m getting faster and faster and never give up when it comes to hav tag.  I also love playing pull the other Hav’s ears and beards, when mom isn’t watching!!!  Only problem about getting bigger is I’m getting more time outs!!  also can’t get under the deck anymore.  Couldn’t get out yesterday and Dad had to take off 3 boards to save me.  No more hide and seek there !!!
Still am not fond of my leash-but do much better with it away from home. Did pretty well with it at Grandma’s last Saturday, and really well yesterday at the vets.  Mom says that idea of getting away from the other dogs when I was practicing was Mom Dina’s. Pretty good idea, Dina!
And Aunt Nancy-tell Aggie the X-pen is gone and I have rights to a pillow on mom’s bed (as long as DC isn’t there first.  DC gets first choice since he’s the oldest).  So I just settle in where he isn’t.  Think a big reason for my freedom is that I am doing my duty outside and in an emergency on my p pads inside.  For some reason, this makes mom and dad very happy.  Just had to train them how to read my signals.
Mom was really thrilled when she found out Lotus won the Havanese Specialty at Westminster.  She was so happy for everybody there.
Well, it’s nap time.  All the doggy beds and blankets got washed yesterday.  Will probably doze off in the bigger bed since DC insists on curling himself into the tiniest size possible to sleep in my little bed-even then, his head hangs over-silly guy!
Your bestest buddy,
Eli
